Android 4.2.2 for the HTC One Starts Rolling Out in Taiwan, Also Available for Download

422 htc one

The long-awaited Android 4.2.2 update for the HTC One has finally been approved and is arriving on unlocked units in Taiwan as of this morning. The update is massive, weighing in a 465MB, but that’s to be expected since it includes an extensive list of new features and tweaks. We should point out that HTC has yet to officially announce anything, including global availability. Can’t be long though, right?

In the update, we’re seeing greatly improved notification controls, an entire Quick settings panel, rearranged widget panel, new lock screen option, “enhanced” Home button behavior (including the option to set as Menu), battery status level in status bar, six new Highlights themes, other camera improvements, and more. The jump from 4.1 to 4.2.2 may not be all that significant on paper, but HTC is doing more because they are also improving Sense 5.0.

Again, no word on when the developer or other unlocked units will see the update, but we’re assuming it’ll be fairly soon.

Facebook Home Updated, No Changelog Currently Available

facebook home1

Facebook pushed another update out to Facebook Home today, adding who-knows-what as there is no official changelog yet posted in Google Play. Facebook mentioned at time of launch that large monthly updates would be brought to the app and it is about that time of the month. The last update was June 6.

As you can expect, Facebook is utilizing the staged rollouts of the update, so once the update and changelog is live for all, we will update the post with the new features/fixes.

Anyone still using Home?

Samsung Galaxy S4 Developer Edition available for Verizon at $649

Back in May, we told you that developer edition of the Samsung Galaxy S4 is headed towards AT&T and Verizon, and we might see it soon. And guess who won the race? Samsung officially unveiled the developer edition of the famous smartphone for Verizon, and it is available for $649 directly through Samsung’s online store. Everything under the hood is just like the original version, it just comes with unlocked bootloader and no bloatware.

GS4_Verizon_Black_400x400_large1_clSamsung has a special love for developers, hence a special device just for the developers. Carriers probably have something against no bloatware and a fully unlocked bootloader, like the AT&T and Verizon Galaxy S4 can be unlocked and turned into a developer phone, but the carriers just don’t approve it. Although, there’s a way to do it, and that is hacking, but that is dangerous and will definitely void your warranty. We are not encouraging you to do it, only just telling you about the options. So if you are not a hacking type person yet looking forward to a developer edition of Galaxy S4, then here it is!

Are you planning to grab the Galaxy S4 Developer Edition, or is it just too heavy on the pocket? Tell us about it in the comment box below.
